The measure was published on Monday (21). ✅ Click here to follow the G1 international news channel on WhatsApp the new standard follows an executive order of President Donald Trump and was discreetly placed on the entity’s website. The committee also sent a letter to the national confederations. The new policy refers to the order “keeping men out of women’s sports,” signed by Trump in February. The text determines, among other things, the cutting of federal resources for organizations that allow the participation of trans athletes in female disputes. In the letter, signed by CEO of Usepc, Sarah Hirshland, and President Gene Sykes, the entity says that “it has an obligation to fulfill federal expectations” for being an organization with federal letter. And they also said they have been maintaining “respectful and constructive conversations” with the government since the signing of the decree. “The new policy reinforces the importance of ensuring a fair and safe competition environment for women. All national federations need to update their rules,” they wrote. The measure was criticized by women’s rights of women. In a statement, the president of the National Center for Women’s Law, Fatima Goss Bass, said that Usepc is “sacrificing the needs and safety of her own athletes to meet political pressures.” The committee supervises about 50 national federations, which operate from the base to elite levels. As a result, local clubs may also be required to change their regulations to remain affiliated to the entities. Some of these federations – such as athletics – already follow their own or international guidelines. The World Athletics, for example, evaluates changes that align with Trump’s order. The US Swimming Federation said it was reported from the new guideline and is in contact with the committee to understand which adjustments you will need. Already fencing changed its policy from August 1: the female category became exclusive to female athletes, while the male was open to all other athletes – including trans, non -binary people, intersex and cis men. The discussion about the presence of trans athletes in female categories occurs throughout the country, with several states approving laws that prohibit trans women to compete in these tournaments. Some of these standards, however, have been suspended in court after allegations of discrimination. NCAA, responsible for university competitions, has also changed its policy this year, restricting access to female categories only to people designated as women at birth. The change came the day after Trump signed the decree. The eligibility of athletes is one of the central topics for the new president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Kirsty Coventry, who said she wants to “protect the female category.” The IOC allows each federation to define its own rules for the Olympics, and some have already imposed restrictions. Currently, sports such as swimming, athletics and cycling see the participation of athletes who have undergone male puberty. Football also studies measures to limit the performance of athletes with high testosterone levels. Trump has pressured the IOC to adopt tougher rules on the subject.
