The agreement, known as Geelong-Retagwas officially signed on July 26, 2025 in the Australian city of Geelong by the defense ministers of both countries. It forms the basis for long -term cooperation as part of the Sacrifice-Alliance, a trilateral alliance that the United States also belong.
The contract provides for comprehensive cooperation in the event of a design, construction, operation, maintenance and extra service of the SSN-Aukus-U-boats and also promotes the expansion of workers, infrastructure and industrial capacity. He will also enable British submarines of the Asteute class to run Australian ports in the rotation process and thus strengthen the common naval presence in the Indopazific.
According to the governments involved, the Agreement corresponds to the international standards for non-distribution of nuclear weapons and is intended to contribute to global security-especially in the euro-atlantic and indopacific region.
The initiative is also intended to boost the economy, create thousands of qualified jobs and open up new opportunities for the defense industry of both countries.
