Since assuming the presidency of Argentina, Javier Milei has sought ways to combat the serious national economic crisis, which intensified during the peronist government, with a political agenda that has already generated positive effects for the population.
One of the most recent results, released in a report by the Argentine Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC), points out that real wages (adjusted by inflation) are firing in the economy.
In the first quarter of the year, salary participation in Argentine GDP reached 49.1%, one of the biggest percentages of recent times, surpassing corporate profits, which have fallen several percentage points in the same period.
According to Indec, there was a five percentage increase between the first three months of 2024 and 2024, from 44.1% to 49.1%. This data signals that the purchasing power of Argentines has increased in recent months, which is also directly related to job recovery in the country.
On the other hand, corporate profits lost strength during this period, reducing their GDP from 40, 6% (in 2024) to 35.6% (2025). This result arises amid Javier Milei’s government reforms to reduce public spending, which is generating consecutive surpluses.
Last week, Casa Rosada announced that Argentina’s financial statements generated a new surplus close to 1% of GDP in the first six months of the year.
A recent report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) endorsed Milei economic policies, noting that “these reforms were responsible for making regulations more pro-competitive in the country, enabling greater opening for business.”
OECD Economic Research estimates suggest considerable GDP increases in Argentina in the coming years with the results of Milei’s economic agenda. For 2025, the group foresees growth of 5.2%, while for the following year, 4.3%.
The implementation of new actions that boost the economy in the next decade, aligned with OECD recommendations, could expand national revenues by 6.8%, according to the International Organization document.
