Ukraine killed Russian navy deputy commander Mikhail Gudkov, in a surprise attack on the Kursk region, making him one of the highest-patent Russian officers eliminated since the early 2022 invasion.
The announcement was made by the Governor of the Primorsky Region in Russia far east, Oleg Kozhemyako, on Thursday (3).
The Russian top military was appointed deputy chief of the Russian navy to coastal and terrestrial forces by dictator Vladimir Putin in March, a few months ago.
The first details of the surprise operation were reported by Ukrainian Russian and Ukrainian channels, who reported that 45 -year -old Gudkov was killed with ten other Russian military personnel, including official Nariman Shikhaliyev, in a Ukrainian attack on a command post in Korenevo, a border district in the Kursk region. The authorities of both countries have not confirmed these details so far.
However, the Russian Ministry of Defense later confirmed the death of the officer, stating that it occurred while “driving combat operations in one of the border areas of the Kursk region.”
Born in Donbass and graduated from the Military Command School of Novosibrarsk, Mikhail Gudkov was personally appointed deputy commander of the Russian Navy for Putin months earlier during a meeting in a nuclear submarine.
Prior to the promotion, the high -patent officer led a unit that has been actively involved in invasive operations in Ukraine since 2022, the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet’s separate guard.
