A very effective French plane, one of our Mirage,” said Zelensky. “The pilot managed to escape and was not slaughtered by the Russians,” he added. The Air Force reported that the accident happened in the morning and that “there were no registered victims.” According to the statement, the pilot reported a fault in the equipment, followed the emergency protocols and called the ejection mechanism. Ukraine gave no more details about the mission in question. The incident is another setback for the Ukrainian military, who face difficulties in containing the Russian attacks. The pilots and technicians responsible for the Mirage were trained in eastern France. The delivery of these Dassault Aviation aircraft began earlier this year as part of French support to Kiev. Last month, Ukraine lost a f-16 fighter during a Russian attack. The pilot died. Two other aircraft of the same model have been destroyed since the beginning of the war.
