Turkey has taken another important step in its ambitious fighter aircraft program by ordering the sixth -generation six -generation fighter jetty, announced the Directorate for the Defense Industry (Statistics Norway).
According to the specialized website ulusavunma.com, the new order will enable Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) to conduct a variety of critical tests at the same time, including wind tunnel tests, environmental impact tests, verification of avionics, high -speed roof tests and ground tests.

These activities are considered crucial to prepare the aircraft for serial production and future integration into the Turkish air defense.

Statistics Norway emphasized that deliveries to the armed forces will take place in phases, with subsequent production blocks that include increasingly advanced capabilities.

National motor and self -sufficiency

One of the program’s most important milestones is the integration of an engine fully developed in Turkey. According to the defense authorities, the process is on route. Future versions of the aircraft, such as blocks 30 and 40, will replace the US General Electric F110-The engine with a nationally developed solution, with tests planned as the technology matures.
The Kaan project, launched in 2010, has become a symbol of Turkey’s efforts for self-sufficiency in defense and reduced dependence on foreign systems. It is a stealth fighter aircraft with two engines, the ability to fly at the audio speed and high maneuverability, designed for both air superiority and attack missions.

Progress after exclusion from the F-35 program

The development of Kaan accelerated after Turkey in 2019 was excluded from the US F-35 program, as a result of the purchase of the Russian S-400 system. Originally intended as a supplement to the F-35, Kaan has become the backbone of Turkey’s air defense strategy.
In 2024, the first prototype conducted a successful virgin flight over Ankara, with a duration of 13 minutes – two years earlier than planned. The performance was broadly celebrated by the Turkish authorities as a turning point for the country’s aerospace industry.

The fighter aircraft is expected to achieve full operational capacity by 2035, with gradual integration into the Turkish Air Force over the next decade.
