United States President Donald Trump has reduced “to 10 or 12 days” from this Monday (28) the deadline granted to the Russian dictator, Vladimir Putin, to reach a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine, because “there is no reason to wait”.
“I will establish a new period of about 10 or 12 days from today. There is no reason to wait. We are not seeing any progress,” Trump told reporters at a second question of the Tryberry golf resort in Scotland against British Prime Minister Keir Strmer.
Minutes earlier, at the entrance of the premises, Trump said he was “disappointed” with Putin because at the end of the “four or five” conversations they had, “he launches rockets against cities, for example, Kiev”, and said he would reduce the deadline he announced on July 14 and started on the 22nd of the same month.
“I will reduce the 50 days I gave to a smaller number, because I think I already know the answer to what will happen,” he argued.
Trump, as he said on other occasions, was disappointed with Putin’s attitude because, after talking, the Russian dictator attacks again, “kills many people in a residence or wherever it is and leaves bodies spread across the street.”
Ukrainian presidential cabinet chief Andrii Yermak thanked the US president on Monday for shortening 50 days after Putin two weeks ago to agree to sign a peace agreement.
“Thanks to the US president for staying firm and conveying a clear message of peace through strength,” Yermak said on social network.
Yermak added that “Putin only respects power” and greeted Trump’s “strong and clear” message in Scotland.
Negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations resumed on July 23 in Istanbul, with the Russian side proposing the creation of working groups that would operate online, to which Ukraine has not yet responded, Kremlin said on Monday.
