The Supreme Court of the United States unlocked on Tuesday (8) an executive order to allow President Donald Trump to continue mass layoffs in the federal government.
The maximum judicial instance of the United States supported the Republican ruler in a decision that ordered federal agencies to prepare for personnel reductions, although he has left the door open for the applicants to dispute any agency’s specific plan in the future.
“We do not decide on the legality of any personnel reduction or agency reorganization plan developed or approved in accordance with the executive order and the memo,” the decision says.
The order suspends another imposed on May 22 by a California Federal Court, which temporarily prevented government agencies from collectively reducing the staff.
The veto responded to a larger Trump government plan, signed in mid -February, to significantly reduce the size of federal agencies as part of one of their electoral promises.
The lawsuit to block this order was filed by more than a dozen unions and organizations to stop the wave of cuts, which was partially promoted by billionaire Elon Musk, who until May occupied the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), in charge of cutting public spending.
