This Monday (21), at 11:59 pm, the virtual trial in the Federal Supreme Court on the decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes involving former President of the Republic Jair Bolsonaro.
Last Friday (19), the first class formed a favorable majority to Moraes, with the votes of ministers Flávio Dino, Cristiano Zanin and Cármen Lúcia. Only the manifestation of Minister Luiz Fux is missing. The trial was summoned by Cristiano Zanin.
Bolsonaro was the target of search and seizure warrants in Brasilia, enforced by the Federal Police. Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the process that investigates an attempted coup d’état in Brazil, determined precautionary measures against the former president, such as the use of an electronic anklet.
Moraes argues that Bolsonaro would have confessed an attempted extortion against Brazilian justice by conditioning the end of the “tariff” promoted by Donald Trump to a possible amnesty. On the 9th, the US president announced an extra rate of 50% over all Brazilian products, starting on August 1st.
In a social network publication, Trump stated that Bolsonaro is the victim of a “witch hunt” promoted by the Supreme Court in Brazil.
