Striker Diogo Jota was at the wheel and driving excessively above the speed limit before the accident that killed him and his brother, André Silva, according to information released by the Spanish police on Tuesday (8). The maximum road velocity is 120 km/h.
The Civil Guard investigates a possible poor condition of the road as the cause of the crash. Residents confirmed the situation of the track. The final report on the case has not yet been finalized, and the expertise will analyze other details of the accident, including a tire brand of one of the car’s wheels.

Liverpool Diogo Jota’s Portuguese player died in an accident in Spain. The 28 -year -old car caught fire after leaving the track. His brother, André Silva, 26, who was an athlete of Penafiel, from Portugal, was in the car and also could not resist.
According to the Spanish authorities, the vehicle in which the brothers were went to overtake, the tire punctured, making the car overturn and catch fire. The rescue teams reported that it was only possible to recognize the bodies because of the documents in the car.
The funeral of the athletes took place last Friday (4), in Gondomar, hometown of the players, in the metropolitan region of Porto, Portugal. The funeral was held one day later, on Saturday, and was attended by the Liverpool cast, and government authorities, such as the president of the country, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. Diogo had married eleven days before the tragedy.
