Russian communists want to keep Lenin’s legacy alive

The Russian Communist Party presented, on Monday (7), to the state-owned (parliament) a bill to protect Vladimir Lenin’s memory in the face of rumors that authorities could remove the mummy from the Soviet leader after the reforms in their mausoleum.

“Settlement or change of names of elements” associated with Lenin’s memory, among which are toponyms, Moscow Mausoleum, Monuments, street and squares, among others, says the document published on the Russian Parliament page.

According to Anzhelika Glazkova, author of the bill, “Ukraine’s example shows that the liquidation of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin’s monuments is the beginning of a neo -Nazi coup and declared Russophobia.”

“The denigration of Lenin’s memory is used by hostile states and anti -rise political forces to discredit Russia as heir to the Soviet Union, founded by Lenin,” said the communist.

The communists also adopted a resolution in which they declared a condemnation made by Nikita Khrushchev, former Prime Minister of the Soviétic Union, to the personality worship of Josef Stalin, delivered in 1956 during the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

The Russian Ministry of Culture previously reported that it will invest 19.6 million rubles (about R $ 1.3 million) in the restoration work of the Moscow Red Square, which houses the Mummy of the Founder of the Soviet State.

The reforms should be performed in the next two years, and the museum could be closed until June 19, 2027.

Faced with the temporary closure, which will soon occur, thousands of Russians have been saying goodbye to the revolutionary ideologist’s mummy, while rumors of a possible definitive closure of his mausoleum were spread.

Although research says that only a third of the Russians support Lenin’s permanence in the mausoleum, Russian President Vladimir Putin has been very careful to open a public debate, claiming that this would cause a split in society and represent a humiliation for many of those born in the Soviet period.

Lenin was one of the communist leaders of the 1917 Russian Revolution, who overthrew the tsarist regime and led to the creation of the Soviet Union – a regime that killed more than 110 million human beings.
