Russia launched a large-scale attack on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities at dawn on Friday (4). According to the Ukraine Air Force, the offensive had a record number of 539 drones and eleven ballistic missiles fired at once in the country, exceeding 537 air targets used by the Russian government in the June 29 invested.
Moscow’s action came hours after a call between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in which the Republican said he had no resulted in “no progress.” The attack was also the first since the White House suspended the sending of Patriot Air Defense missiles to Ukraine, claiming the need for the levels of the weaponry reserve itself.
According to Kiev’s authorities, the attack lasted about 13 hours, leaving 23 injured and a wave of smoke, fire and destruction in residential areas.
“Absolutely horrible and sleepless night in Kiev. One of the worst (attacks) so far. It was one of the larger -scale air invested – deliberately massive and cynical. This is all clear evidence that without truly large -scale pressure, Russia will not change its stupid and destructive behavior,” wrote Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Air Force said it was able to neutralize 478 air targets, while nine of the missiles and 63 drones hit the targets. Among the weapons used was the North Korean hypersonic projectile KN-23. Russia said it was willing to negotiate, but Kiev does not share the same interests, taking into account the escalation of the war, which has lasted more than three years.
