According to projections of the main electoral research institutes in Chile, the country is expected to be governed by the center-right from 2026.
With elections programs for next November 16-with a second round scheduled for December 14-the second round projections report that the former minister of the situation and member of the Chilean Communist Party, Jeannette Jara, 51, is expected to be defeated in an eventual second round against the republican party’s conservative José Antonio Kast, or against Evelyn Matthe Chile ”.

In a possible second round between the two women’s candidates, Jara and Matthei, the right-wing postulant and former government minister Piñera would win (42% vs 37%).
Other research institutes also corroborate the advantage of the right in Chilean presidential elections.
Currently under the left administration of President Gabriel Boric, elected in 2022, the Chilean electorate seems to be moving away from the current government – or at least from the candidate chosen in last month’s previews.
Jeannette Jara’s candidacy does not seem to have pleased various sectors of Chilean, historically conservative and anti -communist society. Therefore, Jara’s campaign has been trying to push her away from the label of “communist” while seeking to convince the electorate that she is from the center-left-to no avail, so they show the last polls.
And even if he can win the electorate’s appreciation over the next four months, Jara and Gabriel Boric will have a long way to go: No Chilean president has managed to elect his political successor over the past two decades.
