On July 1, 2025, the Polish Navy officially launched its first signals intelligence (SIGINT) vessel, the ORP Jerzy Różycki.
The ceremony took place at the Remontowa Shipbuilding shipyard in Gdańsk and was attended by military and government officials, highlighting the strategic relevance of the project. The vessel is part of the Delfin program, which plans for the construction of two ships specialized in maritime electronic intelligence.
Built in partnership with Saabresponsible for the electronic and mission systems, the ship’s structure will be completed in the coming months with the installation of equipment and subsequent sea trials. Remontowa was in charge of hull construction, while Polish company MMC contributed to the design. Other national defense industry companies are also involved in the ship’s development.
Named in honor of mathematician and cryptographer Jerzy Różyckione of those responsible for breaking the Enigma code, the ship will strengthen Poland’s maritime strategic reconnaissance capabilities.
Equipped to intercept data across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, the ORP Jerzy Różycki represents a significant advancement in the autonomy and modernization of the Polish armed forces.
