Law & Order is down a detective.
Mehcad Brookswho has portrayed Detective Jalen Shaw on the NBC crime drama for the last three seasons, will not be returning for the procedural’s upcoming 25th seasons, multiple outlets confirmed.
The True Blood alum joined the Dick Wolf-produced series in 2022 during season 22 as a replacement for series alum Anthony Anderson.
Castmembers Tony Goldwyn, Reid Scott, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Mahalei and Maura Tierney are reportedly returning for the new season.
E! News has reached out to NBC for comment.
Law & Order‘s season 24 finale did not hint at Det. Shaw’s departure, however Brooks did give a special shout out to the show’s cast and crew upon wrapping production earlier this year.
“That’s a wrap on Season 24,” the actor wrote on Instagram in April. “What an amazing, intense and deeply grounding experience. It’s a pleasure and privilege to share the screen with such talented and hardworking artists and such an intrepid crew who truly care about what we are co-creating.”
