President Lula visited on Thursday (3) former Argentine president Cristina Kirchner, who meets house arrest after being convicted of corruption. The meeting took place at her house in Buenos Aires, after the court proving the visit of the Brazilian leader.
On Social Network X – the former Twitter – Cristina released photos of the meeting with a caption of criticism of the government of Javier Milei and the Argentine judiciary.

Argentina stated that the meeting was more than a personal visit. For her, Lula’s presence represents a political act of solidarity between leaders who, according to his words, suffered judicial persecution in their countries. The former president said the Argentine court failed to act independently and began to meet the interests of economic power.
“Lula was also persecuted, used the legal war against him, reaching him, and tried to silence him. They failed. He returned with the vote of the Brazilian people and with his head held high. So today, his visit was much more than a personal gesture: it was a political act of solidarity.”
In the publication, Cristina described a scenario that called “low -intensity state terrorism”, an expression used to refer to what she considers authoritarian practices in the Milei government. She denounced the repression of protests and the arrest of militants, citing the performance of Security Minister Patricia Bullrich, who ordered the detention of young activists.
Cristina also criticized the proposals for state surveillance. According to her, the government prepares measures that allow monitoring of social networks without judicial authorization and internal espionage against anyone who question the official speech. She warned of the risk of preventive arrests without proof of crime, only based on opinions and online publications.
The former president also denounced the drop in press freedom levels in the country. He cited data from the Reporters Without Borders organization, which point to Argentina as the country that has lost the most positions in the global ranking of press freedom in the last two years. She recalled the case of photojournalist Pablo Grillo, who was in a coma after being assaulted while covering a demonstration of retirees.
In the economic field, Cristina criticized successive increases in energy and gas accounts during a strong cold wave in the country. She accused the government of applying a radical neoliberal model that, according to her, privileges the richest and leaves the population vulnerable, in a similar situation to what happened in Chile during the Pinochet dictatorship.
Despite the criticism, the former president said that Argentina society will not accept the measures of the Milei government. For her, popular mobilization will be able to block the authoritarian advance, as happened in Brazil with Lula’s return to the presidency after his arrest.
