President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva travels to Santiago, Chile, to attend an international meeting with leaders from Latin America and Europe. The main objective of the meeting is to strengthen the defense of democracy and seek solutions to face the advance of fake news and extremism.
The event will be held at La Moneda Palace and will be attended by Chilean President Gabriel Boric, Spanish Pedro Sánchez, Colombian Gustavo Petro and Uruguayan Yamandú Orsi. This meeting continues debates started in 2024 during the United Nations General Assembly, which address multilateralism, global cooperation and the promotion of social justice.
The previous year, Lula and Sánchez organized the event “in defense of democracy, fighting extremism”, in which the Brazilian president warned of the risks that the far right represents for democratic principles around the world.
