The 24-year-old tourist was hunted and arrested by police on Wednesday night (21st) in the historic area via Veneto, near the US Embassy. He wore a marble base from an old pillar that weighed 30 kilos.

The stolen object was placed between the tourist feet while fleding on an electric scooter. The police officer stated that the young man took the object as a “souvenir,” but there is no information on whether he paid for the artifact.

According to the Italian authorities, the young man has not been accused but is being investigated for “receiving stolen cultural objects.” The tourist’s identity has not been published.

Recently, authorities have expressed concern about behavior from other visitors. A tourist was arrested for engraving his initials in the Roman Coliseum and for driving a scooter around the ruins of Pompeii.
