Israelis are detained in Belgium after a group complaint

Two Israelis, one of them soldier of the Defense Forces (FDI), were temporarily detained in Belgium after being denounced by the Pro-Palestinos Hind Rajab organization for alleged war crimes in Gaza.

The two traveled to the country to participate in an edition of the Tomorrowland music festival. Already at the scene, the interrogation were carried out by the Belgian authorities after the activist group, which seeks to process Israeli around the world, request their arrests.

According to Belgian public broadcaster RTBFthe two, which were apparently seen at the festival shaking the FDI Givati Brigade flag, were released after interrogation. To the Canal 12From Israel, one of them said he was assaulted by police. “We punched our face, they took us to a secret police station,” he said.

According to RTBF, the Israelis were arrested after a complaint filed by the Hind Rajab Foundation. Belgian federal prosecutors would have determined that the country could have jurisdiction to address the matter.

Since September last year, when it was created, the Pro-Palestinos NGO has mobilized to try to sue Israeli military in various countries for alleged war crimes, including Brazil.

In January, a holiday soldier in Brazil was the target of a Federal Police (PF) operation by alleged “war crimes” in the Gaza Strip. At the time, he received support from former President Jair Bolsonaro and managed to leave the country before a possible prison.
