Israel reported on Sunday that it will temporarily interrupt its military operations for ten hours daily in certain areas of the Gaza Strip. As reported by S.Paulo Folha, The measure aims to allow advancement in the distribution of food and medicines to the Palestinian population, amid the impasse in negotiations for a truce.
According to an official statement, released by the Israeli government, the break will take place from 10am to 8pm (local time), the equivalent from 4am to 2pm Brasília time, in the regions of Al-Mawasi, Deir Al-Balah and City of Gaza. These areas were designated as temporary humanitarian corridors, with guaranteed safety for the passage of supplies trains.
In addition, secure routes will be in force from 6am to 11pm to facilitate access to trucks that carry food, medicines and other essential inputs to the civilian population.
UN Humanitarian Chief of Humanitarian Aid, Tom Fletcher, said the efforts will be concentrated in the areas released during the break. “Our teams on the ground will do everything we can to reach as many hungry people as possible in this window of time,” he wrote in his social network account.
The measure occurs amid the circulation of civilian images in Gaza suffering from food scarcity. According to data released by the “Ministry of Health of Gaza” – an agency controlled by the terrorist group Hamas – 127 people would have died of malnutrition since the beginning of the war, including 85 children.
However, international analysts question the reliability of this information, as Hamas himself uses civil structures and hospitals for military purposes, making it difficult to check independently of the data provided.
