Shifa hospital director Mohamed Abu Selmiyah told the Associated Press that since Sunday morning, the hospital has received 48 dead and 150 injured as they sought help from trucks that should enter Gaza through the North Border between Gaza and Israel. He confirmed that at least 40 of the dead were fatally shot.
