Israel announces “Active Defense Policy” against Iran after war

by Marcelo Moreira

Israel’s Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, said on Friday that his country will seek a “active defense policy” after his 12-day war with Iran, which ended June 24, to prevent the Islamic Republic from being able to rebuild its military capabilities.

“The State of Israel is intended to hold an active defense policy against Iran and eliminate threats,” Katz said in a message to the troops shared on Friday by his office.

The minister highlighted the damage to the Iranian nuclear program and the ballistic missile production system, which referred as the two major threats to Israel during the campaign against Iran.

“The mission of the FDI (Israeli Defense Forces) is now to prepare a white and blue plane (the colors of the Israeli flag) to ensure that Iran cannot threaten Israel again,” Katz said, particularly pointing to the Army’s air superiority over Tehran.

A week ago, Katz gave instructions to Israeli forces preparing “an execution plan against Iran” that includes maintaining Israel’s air superiority and preventing nuclear advancement and the production of missiles of the Islamic Republic, as he announced his own social network account.

According to official data, the war between the two countries left a balance of at least 28 dead in Israel and 935 in Iran, mostly civilians according to reports from both countries. The conflict ended with a US ceasefire mediated by the United States that came into force on June 24.
