The Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) and the Ministry of Europe and French Affairs of France announced, on Wednesday (2/7), the intention to transform the Helibras factory, located in Itajubá (MG), into a strategic h145 helicopter production and export center-one of the world’s most advanced multipurpose models.
The initiative was made official through a letter of intent signed during a meeting between Vice-President and MDIC Minister Geraldo Alckmin and French minister Laurent Saint-Martin, held in Brasilia.
The signing of the document was made by MDIC’s executive secretary, Márcio Elias Rosa, who led the negotiations on the Brazilian side.

US $ 185 million investment and focus on export
The project foresees an investment of approximately US $ 185 million over the next 15 years for the production of up to 200 units of the H145 model for both the national and international market. Each helicopter has estimated market value of $ 15 million.
The H145 is manufactured by Airbus and recognized for its versatility and high boarded technology, and can be used in civil, military, rescue and aeromedical transport missions.
The proposal is aligned with the guidelines of Nova Indústria Brasil (NIB), prioritizing productive densification, the incorporation of cutting -edge technologies and the expansion of high value -added exports. The goal is also to generate qualified jobs and strengthen the local chain of suppliers in Minas Gerais and Brazil.
