President Lula signed a Provisional Measure (MP) to avoid increases in the electricity bill, after the overthrow of presidential vetoes to the Offshore Wind Law. The text was published this Friday (11) in the Official Gazette.
Government technicians warned that Congress decision could increase by up to R $ 35 billion a year the cost of energy. The MP defines a ceiling for light bill subsidies, proposes the use of small hydroelectric plants instead of thermal and provides for changes to facilitate the sale of natural gas. The MP is already in force, but needs to be analyzed by Congress.
If available resources are not sufficient to finance sector policies, it will be necessary to create the resource complement charge, which should be paid by the beneficiaries of the Energy Development Account (CDE) – except those benefited by programs such as Luz for all and social tariff. Payment will be staggered: 50% in 2027 and 100% from 2028.
