Due to the economic, military and diplomatic power of the United States, the American presidency is the most important political position in the world. Since returning to the White House in January, Donald Trump has earned this power and has taken impact measures on matters of great importance, such as international trade, armed conflicts between countries and the fight against illegal immigration.
However, giving reason to his reputable reputation, Trump also used his position to make decisions or pressure on topics that, at first glance, would not seem priority on the agenda of a powerful public manager like the president of the United States. Check out some of them:
Straw
In February, Trump lowered an order for agencies to eliminate the use of paper straws in the federal executive buildings.
“Plastic straws are often replaced by non -functional paper straws, they use chemicals that can bring risks to human health, are more expensive to produce than plastic straws and often force users to use various straws,” said the white house that justified the measurement.
Trump also determined the creation of a national strategy to eliminate all the policies of the federal executive branch designed to “disadvantage” plastic straws.
Shower
In April, Trump revoked a change introduced in the term of Barack Obama (2009-2017), who had reduced water flow through the hole of the showers sold in the United States.
In his first term (2017-2021), Trump had already reviewed the norm, but his successor, Joe Biden (2021-2025), has again applied the rule of Obama’s time-now, again revoked.
“I like to take a good shower to take care of my beautiful hair,” said Trump as he signed the executive order in the White House on the subject. “[Hoje,] I need to be under the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. The water comes out like this: drips, drips, drips. ”
Team name
This week, Trump threatened to veto an agreement by the Washington Commanders football team with the Columbia district government to build a new stadium if the team is not renamed Washington Redskins, a name modified a few years ago on the grounds that it would be offensive to American indigenous people.
“I can impose a restriction on them: If they do not change their names back to the original Washington Redskins and get rid of the ridiculous name Washington Commanders, I will not agree to build a stadium in Washington,” Trump said on the Truth Social network.
However, the USA today said Trump could not unilaterally cancel the agreement to build the stadium, because the United States Congress passed a law in December that transferred the property of the old RFK Stadium (where the arena will be built; the demolition of the original stadium is underway) of the National Parks Service for Columbia.
Coca-cola
On Tuesday (22), Coca-Cola announced that it will launch in the United States a sugar sugar version of American sugar-the drink that supplies the largest market in the world is usually sweetened with corn syrup.
The company took the measure after Trump announced in the social Truth a “agreement” in this sense that Coca-Cola at first did not confirm.
“I’ve been talking to Coca-Cola about the use of real sugarcane sugar at Coca-Cola in the United States, and they agreed. I would like to thank all Coca-Cola authorities. It will be a great initiative of them-you will see. It’s just better!” Wrote the US president.
