Inside was the employee ID of Richard Guilforda former employee of the Ford Motor Company, who assembled cars in the Michigan factory.
Guilford could be found after People posted the story on Facebook. “I never wore jogging pants for work, but I already had the wallet in my shirt pocket that day,” he said.
When he bowed to an SUV 11 years ago, his wallet slipped out of his pocket. “I looked and thought: ‘I lost my wallet.’ Then we all went out and searched for 2,000 cars outside, but we couldn’t find it.
The wallet then traveled to a dealer in Arizona and finally to Minnesota. After 240,000 km it landed in a workshop of an honest mechanic who immediately brought it to the post office.
The cash in the Guilford wallet was untouched, as was some lottery tickets and gift cards worth $ 250, which he wanted to use for Christmas gifts for his children.
“I never thought it was still there,” said Guilford. “I think I have to look in engine rooms more often from now on – maybe I still find something,” joked people.
