Five people die in a shot at New York

At least five people, including the author of the shots, died in an attack on Monday in the Manhattan district of New York, a police source told CNN.

Among the dead is a police officer from the New York Police Department (NYPD). The author of the shots, a 27 -year -old man from Las Vegas whose name was not disclosed, would have killed herself after the attack.

“At this time, the scene has been contained and the lone shooter is dead,” said NYPD at X.

New York Mayor Eric Adams confirmed the presence of injured, but did not disclose his condition.

“There were people who were shot and were injured, and soon I will go to the hospital,” said Adams, who also confirmed the shooter’s death.

The attack occurred around 6 pm (local time, 19h of Brasilia), near the offices of the Blackstone investment giant, which was immediately emptied.

“I heard shots, loud noises. It seemed like they could be from our material, but they were broken glass. When I climbed, I saw the broken glass. Security guards said, ‘Be lowers, active shooter, run,’ and that’s it,” Efe agency told the building.

Mayor Eric Adams and the Police Department issued alerts in X for New Yorkers to avoid approaching where the attack had occurred.

FBI’s deputy director Dan Bongino said that “the administrative staff and agents of the FBI field office in New York are responding to provide support at the active crime scene in Manhattan.”

Images released on social networks showed dozens of police cars and ambulances around the building, while Sirens resounded in high volume, and several police armed with long weapons coming out of vehicles towards the offices. On them, at least two helicopters were flying over, according to EFE.
