Gabriel Pereira, 21, was recruited by a group of mercenaries, funded by Ukraine, to defend the country in the war against Russia. The Brazilian ended up being killed and the family struggles to find his body.
On July 20, the death of the young man was confirmed and, from there, the search for information began to identify where he would be located. To help find the body and repatriation, their brothers reported that they tried to talk to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, there is a delay in receiving the answer.
In addition, according to them, Gabriel would have received proposals for financial gains over the internet to defend the Ukrainian army, as the enlistment of foreigners cannot be performed directly.
The promises of gain were not realized and Gabriel had to bear the financing, needing to purchase war materials, such as bulletproof vests. The Brazilian abandoned his job to go to Kiev, the Ukrainian capital.
The family alleges negligence on the part of the governments of Ukraine and Brazil, for facing bureaucratic issues for the location of the body and transporting it to their homeland.
