A toucan model aircraft, belonging to the Smoke Smoke of the Air Force Academy (AFA), fell on the morning of Wednesday (30) during a routine training in the rural area of Santa Rita do Passa Quatro, in the interior of São Paulo. The accident mobilized teams from the Brazilian Air Force and the region’s Fire Department.
According to the first information, the plane caught fire when it reaches the ground. The pilot was able to trigger the ejection mechanism and survived the fall. To date, his health has not been disclosed.
The smoke squadron, as the Brazilian Air Force air demonstration team is popularly known, performs frequent performances and training with high performance aircraft, such as the T-27 toucan model. Instruction and test flights are part of the routine of AFA riders, located in Pirassununga (SP), about 30 km from the scene of the accident.
Rescue teams acted quickly to contain the flames and isolate the area. The Air Force reported that an investigation will be opened to investigate the causes of the accident.
