O Shin BetIsrael’s secret service, arrested a leftist activist of about 70 years suspected of planning an attack on the lives of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, using an impromptu explosive device.
Authorities reported that the suspicion, resident in Tel Aviv, is a “well-known former state protest” and that he even addressed other protesters to obtain weapons and sought details about the Prime Minister’s security protocols.
Due to judicial decisions, her identity is kept under confidential and she was released. The arrest took place two weeks ago, but was released by the country’s press only on Wednesday (23). The suspicion will be indicted for conspiracy to commit a terrorist act and is under restrictive conditions, including removal from government institutions and the Prime Minister himself.
The lawyers of the suspicion state that “they have not yet received the complaint or the probative material, and at this time cannot comment on the accusations.”
Netanyahu has already been the target of murder attempts, including one on October 19, 2024, when a drone was launched towards the home of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the city of Caesarea in northern Israel.
At the time, the premie was not at the moment, and there were no victims. The attack occurred two days after Israel murdered Yahya Sinwar, leader of the terrorist group Hamas.
