The Association of Brazilian Diplomats (ADB Sindical) issued a joint note with the National Union of Servers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Sinditamarath) on Wednesday (30), in which he “vehemently” repudiating the imposition of punitive tariffs by the United States government to Brazilian products. For the entities, by linking sanctions on issues related to the judiciary, the US government commits direct aggression to the sovereignty of Brazil.
In the note, the association states that the use of commercial barriers to interfere with the internal functioning of another country “exceeds the limits of institutional respect.” The entities reacted after statements in Donald Trump’s management who related the tariffs imposed on Brazilian court decisions, including mentions to Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
The text maintains that principles such as state sovereignty and people’s right to self -determination are pillars of international law, provided for in the United Nations Charter and in multilateral treaties signed by Brazil. These grounds, according to diplomats, guarantee each country the power to decide their own political, legal and economic directions, without submission to external pressures.
“Using commercial barriers to try to influence the internal functioning of another state constitutes a serious violation of these foundations and compromises the integrity of relations between sovereign nations,” says the note signed by ADB Sindical and Sinditamarath.
The association ends the demonstration by reaffirming the role of the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in defense of national sovereignty and the autonomy of Brazilian democratic institutions.
