Columbia University Directorate, located in New York, reported on Tuesday that he applied sanctions against students of the institution against Israel in which the Butler Library was invaded in May this year and mounted a campus camp during the former students in 2024.
According to a university statement, punishments include suspensions ranging from one to three years, revocation of diplomas and expulsions.
The institution did not disclose the number of students affected by the measures, but the Apartheid disinvestment group of Columbia University reported that about 80 students were reported on Monday (21) about suspensions and expulsions.
The announcement of the measurements comes after Columbia closed agreements with Donald Trump management to combat anti -Semitism and campus discrimination after being threatened to have cut federal funds.
“Since a year, the university has worked to strengthen and clarify disciplinary process to our community and devoted significant resources to rules management, including the development of a rules administration office and the establishment of the University’s Judicial Council and rules process, as well as the interpretation and modification of the Rector’s office rules,” said Columbia’s management in the statement.
Earlier, the university had already announced measures such as hiring more than 30 employees with arrest power in campus and external intervention at the Middle East Studies Department, Southern Asia and Africa.
