In the early afternoon of Tuesday (22), a catamaran collided with a fishing boat in the stretch of Cacha Preigos, on the island of Itaparica, located in the region of Todos-os-Santos Bay. A helicopter of the Bahia Military Police Air Group (Graer) had to be used to help the crew. In addition, Botes also had to be used. There is still no knowledge of the amount of injured.
The catamaran, with about 121 passengers and four crew, left Morro de São Paulo, the tourist district of Cairu, in southern Bahia, to Salvador. Already on the other boat, there is still no information if there has been wreck. In it there were three fishermen who needed rescue. The accident happened 9 km from the coast of cacha nails.
Two tugs that were already close to the region, called “Piatã” and “Pituba”, provided support in the rescue. The Navy provided boats, life jackets and specialized teams, including the “gold” patrol warning, the “Guaratuba” patrol ship, and “Caboclo Corvette”, secondary to the command of the East Naval Patrol Group. All with the purpose of helping to help the crew.
According to information from Graer, all passengers have been rescued from the sea and are being transferred to the port of Salvador, where they will receive medical care. There, Samu teams are waiting for the crew. With this, Porto activities were suspended, being closed in the afternoon.
