Carioca visual artist Douglas Knesse failed to attend the opening of his first solo exhibition in the United States, after having the renewal of the visa denied by the US consulate.
The “Harvest Under The Sun” show was inaugurated on Saturday (26) at Simchowitz Gallery, considered one of the most influential of the international scene in Los Angeles, California. Through social networks, the artist lamented that he could not participate in the opening.
Douglas quoted that the gallery issued an official invitation letter, stating that it would bear all the costs of the trip. Even with all the documentation in hand, the artist reports that he did not have the chance to present the roles in the consulate. He said he left the scene without understanding the criteria of the refusal.
“It was a very boring situation. You work with art, it’s a tricky profession to have opportunities. One of the greatest opportunities of my life, something I’ve always dreamed of and lost this opportunity to be there.”
With over 10 years of trajectory in the visual arts, Douglas has already exposed in Finland, France and other countries.
