Brooke Hogan is breaking her silence on her dad Hulk Hogan’s death.
Following the WWE legend’s passing July 24 at age 71, the “About Us” singer spoke out about their complex bond, including their estrangement amid his health struggles in his final years.
“We never had a ‘big fight.’ My father and I never ‘fought,’” Brooke, 37, wrote in a post on Instagram July 29. “It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business.”
Brooke explained that she encouraged the wrestling star (real name Terry Bollea) to “take care of himself” after accompanying him to “almost 25 surgeries,” which she said he later decided he no longer wanted her present for.
“It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn’t get through,” she went on. “He was telling me these things, being so vulnerable with me and heard my pleas, then suddenly something shifted, and he made a choice to walk the path that clearly tore at his spirit.”
