Former President Jair Bolsonaro’s defense has until Tuesday (22) to explain to the Supreme Court (STF) possible violations of restrictive measures imposed against him, including the prohibition of use of social networks, directly or indirectly. If there is no convincing justification, Bolsonaro can be arrested immediately.
On Monday (21), Minister Alexandre de Moraes expanded and reinforced the precautionary measures determined on Friday (18), such as the use of electronic anklet, the prohibition of contact with other investigated and the restriction on the use of social networks. According to Moraes, there is evidence that the former president tries to disturb the process in which he is defendant for attempted coup.
Still on the second, the minister pointed out that the ban extends to posts in third party accounts. A few hours later, Bolsonaro participated in an act with allies in the House of Representatives, and videos of the event ended up on the internet. In the images, he appears displaying the electronic anklet and making speeches.
Moraes cited these videos as possible evidence of non -compliance with the measures imposed.
“The precautionary measure of prohibition of use of social networks obviously includes transmissions, relay or report of audios, videos or transcriptions of interviews in any of the platforms, including third parties,” said the minister.
During the act in Congress, Bolsonaro called the anklet “maximum humiliation” and said he “didn’t kill anyone” to deserve the punishment.
