After being submitted to wearing an electronic anklet by decision of STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes, former President Jair Bolsonaro, on Monday (21), displayed the device for the first time to the public.
During conversation with supporters and journalists, Bolsonaro classified the measure as “humiliating”:
“I didn’t steal the public coffers, I didn’t kill anyone, I didn’t track anyone. This (showing the anklet) is the symbol of maxim humiliation, the cowardice they are doing with a former president.
Since Friday (18), due to the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), in complying with a request from the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), Bolsonaro is home to home between 19h and 7h on weekdays and fully on weekends. In addition, it is prohibited from using any social network, either directly or indirectly, and to maintain contact with the federal deputy, Eduardo Bolsonaro, his son.
The measures are part of the investigation into a possible attempt to coup after Bolsonaro’s defeat in the 2022 elections. According to the PGR, the former president would be integrated into the so-called “core 1” of the organization and would have been acting to delegitimize his defeat to Lula, current president.
