An attack with drones to the city of Odessa, Ukraine, scared goers of a local beach on Sunday (27). After hearing noises of explosions and shots, bathers ran to look for shelter.
According to local authorities, air defense units opened fire on the Russian drones approaching the coast. A column of black smoke was seen in the sky over the Black Sea.
The provincial governor, Oleh Kiper, warned the population about the attack through the Telegram messaging app, and asked residents and tourists to look for safe places.
Conflict negotiations
On Monday (28), the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its troops took control of the settlements of Boikivka and Belhiika, both in eastern Ukraine. On Saturday (26), Russian bombings to the Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk left three dead.
The exchange of attack between the countries follows without a truce forecast. Last Wednesday (23), authorities from Russia and Ukraine gathered in Türkiye to start a new round of negotiations. At the meeting, the representatives indicated to be far from advancing to a ceasefire.
British Prime Minister Keir Strmer, US President Donald Trump, said on Monday (28) that he will reduce the period of 50 days he gave Russian President Vladimir Putin to impose more rigorous sanctions.
Moscow spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it is “unlikely” that a meeting between leaders will take place before late August, as Ukraine proposed, and described the negotiation positions on both sides as “opposite.”
Last Friday (25), Kremlin said Putin will only meet with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky if they are close to closing a peace agreement. Russia requires Kiev to give four occupied territories and do not enter the organization of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO). The Ukrainian government asks for the complete withdrawal of the Russian troops from its territory and Western safety guarantees.
