Attack on Iran delayed nuclear plan in 1 or 2 years, says Pentagon

by Marcelo Moreira

The Pentagon said on Wednesday that the US attack on Iran’s three nuclear facilities delayed the nuclear plan of the Islamic country between one and two years, thus changing the position that they had been completely damaged.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said at a news conversation that all conversations with US allies in the Middle East and other parts of the world since the operation against Iran known as “midnight hammer” show that they share the opinion of “the degradation of the Iranian nuclear program and the fact that it was delayed between one and two years.”

“Probably closer to the age of two,” Parnell said.

Participated in the operation, which took place on June 22, about 125 aircraft, including B-2 bombers who launched powerful 13,600 kg antibunker bombs over two important uranium enrichment facilities: Fordow and Natanz. A submarine fired Tomahawk missiles against Isfahan’s installation.

Although, according to US President Donald Trump, the operation was a success, a report of the US leaked American intelligence pointed out that the attack only delayed the Iranian nuclear program, but did not annihilate it.

“We also believe that damage to Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz facilities have degraded the physical capacity (from Iran) to build a bomb. It is not just the enriched uranium, the centrifuges or something. We destroyed the components needed to build a pump. Taking into account the different factors, we believe that Iran’s nuclear capacity was severely impaired, perhaps even its ambition to build one Pump, ”added Parnell.

On June 25, during participation in the NATO summit in The Hague, the Netherlands, Trump stated that US attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities affected the country’s ability to develop nuclear weapons “for many years.”
