The Argentine court authorized on Wednesday (2) the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to visit Cristina Kirchner at her residence in Buenos Aires, where she meets house arrest, she told the EFE Agency The lawyer of the former president, Carlos Alberto Beraldi.
The Federal Oral Court No. 2 (Tof) authorized the visit of the petista, who will arrive on Wednesday afternoon to the Argentine capital to participate in the Mercosur heads of heads of state and in which he will assume the presidency pro tempore of the agency.
According to the lawyer of the former Argentine president, the visit will be made on Thursday (3), although he has not specified at what time of the day.
Cristina is allowed to receive a limited group of people, such as doctors, lawyers, relatives and police officers in charge of their custody.
The former Argentine Mandanitor, who has been serving a six-year household imprisonment since June 17, appealed to the Chamber of Cassation for both the limitations in the visits and the implementation of an electronic anklet that monitors its movements.
After the Supreme Court of Justice confirmed Kirchner’s conviction, Lula contacted her to express support.
“I observed with satisfaction the serenity and determination with which Cristina faces this adverse situation and her determination to continue fighting,” Lula wrote on his social networks.
Both Cristina, convicted of irregularities in the bidding of public works during her presidency and that of her late husband, Nestor Kirchner, and Lula himself consider that the former president Argentina is the victim of a political and judicial conspiracy.
