The court of São Paulo sentenced businessman Alexandre Correa, ex-husband of presenter Ana Hickmann, to a year in prison open for assault committed against her in the context of domestic violence.
In addition to the sentence, the sentence also determines that the entrepreneur pays $ 10,000 for moral damages, a amount stipulated by the judge responsible as a way to compensate for the emotional and psychological impacts suffered by Ana Hickmann. Protective measures previously granted to the presenter were held indefinitely, based on the assessment that Correa still represents a possible threat to the ex-wife’s integrity.
Justice recognizes domestic violence against Ana Hickmann
The case gained great national repercussion in November 2023, when Ana Hickmann denounced her husband for physical assault. The host, who is one of the best known figures of Brazilian television, spoke publicly about the episode and received support from fans and institutions that work to combat violence against women.
In an official note issued after the sentence, Ana Hickmann said she was “relieved” with the court decision and reinforced the importance that other women victims of violence report their perpetrators.
