Volkswagen Saviro stolen in Brazil over 20 years ago was found by PRF (Polícia Rodoviária Federal – MG)

A Volkswagen Saviro pickup, which was stolen over 20 years ago, has been found by the Federal Road Police (PRF) in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The vehicle, which was stolen in October 2004 in São Paulo, was discovered during a routine check. According to the PRF, the pickup had signs of manipulation, such as changed signs and chassis numbers.

The driver, a 35 -year -old man, claimed that he had bought the Saviro for $ 1,800 about a year ago, but could not present documentation that confirmed the purchase. The pickup had damage to the bodywork and changes in identification marks, which according to Brazilian criminal law constitutes a crime related to manipulation and healing. The driver and other passengers were taken to the police station and risk up to 10 years in prison.

The model found belongs to the special series Fun, launched in 2001, and at that time had advanced equipment such as power steering, aluminum rims and fog lights. Despite the low price paid for the vehicle, well -preserved copies of this edition may be worth almost ten times as much.

PRF stated that they were unable to get in touch with the original owner, pointing out that such cases, even though they are rare, are not unique. In June, a Corsa that was stolen in 1999 was also recovered after more than two decades.
