The House of States voted on Tuesday to block the deliberation of an impeachment process of opening against President Donald Trump, who had been filed by the Democratic opposition due to Iran bombing on Sunday (22).
There were 344 votes in favor of the filing and 79 opposites, as several democrats also opposed the impeachment of Trump.
According to information from the CNN station, the House did not directly vote on the proposal of resolution to the impeachment process itself, but a motion presented by the Republican Party to archive it. The resolution proposal had been presented by Democratic Deputy Al Green of Texas.
Part of the Democratic opposition claims that United States attacks against Iran’s nuclear facilities were unconstitutional, as they had no prior authorization from Congress.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) maintains that the attacks on Iran were based on article II of the American Constitution, which gives the President ample powers to order the use of military force, and that there was no disrespect for article I of the letter, which gives Congress the authority to declare war.
The justification of the DOJ is that the operation in Iran was punctual, not the beginning of a war.
