Ukraine introduced the first lightweight aircraft SHARK with an electronic warfare system to fight Russian drones. The aircraft was developed by the Czech-Slovakian company Shark.aero and was released at the Paris Air Show in 2025.
The aircraft has antennas and devices that identify and disturb the signals of drones such as Shahed and Orlan models, blocking their navigation, control and video transmission system.
The electronic system installed under the gas can detect drones within a radius of 4.5 km at an altitude of 1,800 meters. Some drones use inertial navigation to compensate for disturbance, but SHARKOver time, they can make their flight paths unstable.
The aircraft can fly up to 12 hours, and the maximum speed is 300 km / h and is equipped with emergency parachute and oxygen generator for high altitude flight.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, the leader of the Ukrainian military, says lightweight aircraft is a promising strategy for Russian drones. He says new models are being integrated thanks to international support. In addition, the semi -military organization and local defense troops have been licensed to participate in drone detection and incapacitation using their own weapons, which is part of the new air defense support program.
