Trump says he ceasefire between Israel and Iran is “in force”

by Marcelo Moreira

After the exchange of accusations about the violation of the ceasefire between Israel and Iran on Tuesday (24), President Donald Trump said the countries are maintaining the US truce.

“Israel will not attack Iran. All the planes will turn around and return home while they make a friendly” nod by plane “to Iran. No one will get hurt, the ceasefire is in force!” Trump said in a publication on the Social Truth, while traveling to The Hague in the Netherlands, to participate in the NATO summit.

After a telephone conversation with the White House leader, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured that he will no longer attack Iran, respecting the ceasefire in force.

“After President Trump’s conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel refrained from making new attacks,” said a statement from Netanyahu’s office. In the newsletter, the Israeli government again accused Iran of having violated the deal on at least two occasions and points out that, in response, the Israeli Air Force destroyed a radar in northern Tehran.

Speaking to reporters, Trump stressed that “Israel retreated” after his appeals. “They didn’t do this foray this morning. Fortunately, it was very important. I thank you for that.”

“They had a lot of planes and were going to do something strong, but they didn’t. We’re happy for that. We’re very happy. So ceasefire is in place and I think we’ll keep it for a long time,” he added.
