Trump again pressures Harvard with “total” cutting cuts

by Marcelo Moreira

The US government, led by Donald Trump, concluded that Harvard University acted indifferently amid the anti -Semitic threats faced by Jews and Israeli on the campus, violating these students’ civil rights.

O The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) He had access to a letter sent by the Federal Administration to the president of the oldest educational institution in the country, Alan Garber, on Monday (30) pointing to the investigation’s conclusions and the possible consequences of Harvard’s inaction regarding repeated government considerations.

“The not immediate implementation of appropriate changes will result in the loss of all federal financial resources and will continue to affect Harvard’s relationship with the federal government,” says an excerpt from the letter.

“Harvard can, of course, continue to operate free from federal privileges, and perhaps this opportunity encourages a commitment to excellence that will help Harvard prosper again,” says another passage.

This notification sent to Harvard is indicative that the Trump government must move through the Justice Department an action against the university due to conclusions that there was a violation of civil rights. According to the WSJsimilar measures taken by other administrations regarding civil rights investigations at universities ended with voluntary resolution agreements between the parties.

The document sent to the Harvard president says the university was silent for two years, while Jewish and Israeli students were threatened and assaulted within the institution. This inaction led many students to hide their identities for fear of being harassed, says the document.

The letter also cites several anti -Semitic images that have widely circulated in Harvard since the beginning of the Israeli war with Hamas. The Trump government lists an image that “showed a dollar in a star of David” and acts of vandalism with anti -Semitic symbols on the institution’s walls, including one with “an Israeli flag with a swastika in place of David’s star.”

At the beginning of his second term, President Donald Trump presented a list of requirements for Harvard and other American universities involved in anti-Israel disorders in recent years, including a permission for the government to closely monitor admissions, hiring, diversity policies and plans to combat anti-Semiticism.

After the institution’s refusal, the White House began to exert more pressure from the freezing of billions of dollars in resources that were previously passed to university. Since then, the parties have been living in the judiciary.
