United States President Donald Trump said on Friday that he does not rule out ordering new bombing against Iran’s nuclear facilities if he receives reliable intelligence reports indicating a new uranium enrichment cycle at “worrying levels”.
EFE news agency reported that during a press conference in the White House, when asked about the possibility of reaching again Iranian enrichment centers in the face of a concrete threat of nuclear advancement by Tehran, Trump responded directly: “For sure.”
The US president celebrated what he classified as the “resounding success” of last weekend’s military operation, which was targeted by the facilities of Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz. According to him, the offensive was crucial for the construction of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, ending twelve days of hostilities and contributing to reduce tension in the Middle East. He also stated that both the Israeli government and the Iranian regime would be “exhausted” after the confrontation period.
“I negotiated with both, and both wanted to solve [o impasse]. We did a great job. But Iran and Israel are exhausted. The last thing they think now is in nuclear energy. Do you know what you are thinking about? They think about tomorrow, trying to live, ”said Trump.
According to EFE, the Republican stressed that nuclear facilities, especially the Fordow strategic center, were completely destroyed during the attacks.
“The place was devastated by the bombs. And no, I’m not at all worried,” said the agent.
Trump also charged transparency from the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, after Ayatollah minimizes the damage caused by the offensive in recent pronouncement. “You have to tell the truth. They beaten you, and Israel was also hit,” the president countered in a direct message to Iranian leadership.
The US head of state and tall members of his military command reacted with skepticism to a preliminary press intelligence report, which suggested that the bombing had delayed the Iran’s nuclear program for only six months-not for years, as initially estimated by American authorities.
The EFE agency also said that Trump stressed that, after the attacks, Iran seems to have lost access to 60% enriched uranium reserves and said that “no material was removed from the facilities,” in reference to the stocks that would be stored in the affected places.
