The last Civil Defense Bulletin, released on Sunday (22), notified that so far, four people have died and one is missing due to the storms that reach the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The fourth 59 -year -old victim was located inside a submerged vehicle on the River Anta, rural Aratiba, in the north of the state.
Also according to the Civil Defense, at least 127 cities have already registered problems for heavy rains. Jaguari is the only municipality in a state of public calamity, while 21 have an emergency decree. About 1,071 people are in shelters and another 5,858 are in the house of relatives or friends. In total, 733 people and 139 animals had to be rescued by state security forces. At least six state rivers are level above the flood quota.
Last Friday (20), Governor Eduardo Leite announced that R $ 60 million would be destined to the municipalities affected by the thunderstorms. He met with more than 30 mayors and representatives from the central region of the state to discuss emergency actions in the face of the damage caused by heavy rains of recent days.
