The Italian supermarket chain Coop Alleanza 3.0 announced on Tuesday (24) that it will not sell more products from Israel, due to the war against the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
According to information from Rai News, the supermarket chain said in a press release that this is a symbolic measure and “in line with its principles”, to “not be indifferent to the violence that is tearing the Gaza Strip” and “asking for immediate cessation of military operations” and the entry of more humanitarian help in the enclave.
The decision was made after the presentation of a report from the Supermarket Network Ethics Committee that recommended the boycott, according to Rai News.
No more Israel products are being sold, such as peanuts, tahin sauce and carbonators to make gas with gas. In place, Gaza Cola is being sold, a soda produced by a Pro-Palestinian activist project. The Israeli government has not yet commented on the matter.
The Coop Alleanza 3.0 is the largest cooperative of the Coop Italia Network, which has over 350 stores in the country.
