The Senate plenary should analyze on Wednesday (25) the bill that increases the number of federal deputies from 513 to 531 chairs. The rapporteur chosen was Senator Marcelo Castro (MDB-PI), who presented the opinion for approval and did not suggest changes in the text.
In the House, the proposal was approved on May 6. The rapporteur, Deputy Damião Feliciano (Union-PB), included the estimate of the Board-General of the House in the opinion, detailing the annual impact of approximately R $ 64.4 million.
Voting occurs because the Federal Supreme Court (STF) determined that Congress update the distribution of chairs until June 30, based on the last census of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Vacancies need to respect the size of each state and this number has not been updated since 1993.
This week, the congress will be emptied due to the festivities of St. John, but the Senate marked the remote session for parliamentarians to participate at a distance. If the project is not approved, it will be up to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to distribute.
